Sink the Dinghy

2008 Recipient - Agape Home Expansion Project

For 2008 the Sink the Dinghy Committee selected Agape House and specifically the building of their new Agape Home for Women and Children, being built by the Lighthouse Mission.

Agape Home

According to Whatcom County's Homeless Count, the majority of the local homeless are female or under the age of 18.

In Whatcom County, some of our homeless people live in parks and other public spaces. That's especially hard to accept once you know that the average age of a homeless person in America today is nine years old. In fact, women and children are the fastest growing segment of the homeless population nationally.

The Bellingham Yacht Club raised $11,025 for the building of the new Agape House which will help provide an additional 100 beds for homeless Women and Children right here in Whatcom County.

So between now and January 1 2009, help the Bellingham Yacht Club, its members, their businesses and organizations, to make a direct contribution to the 2008 Sink the Dinghy Fund which is going to the Agape House Home Expansion Project.
